Thanks to Interact for the Women’s day tea served to the elderly at Pauline Davis court. They took time to share with the elderly who thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. – Service in the community is very important as we learn from each other.

Thank you to the House captains applicants for planning events to
celebrate women. The panel discussion was interesting. Thank you for the gifts for the staff.

Thank you to Ms Khumalo for giving up time on a public holiday to support the grade 12 Accounting learners.

Thank you for the new basketball field – the learners are very grateful. Thank you Mrs Souka for checking that the field is correct.

The SAPS – as part of the crime prevention program the SAPS visited Willowmoore High School on Tuesday. They carried out random searches and checked car licenses and driving licenses.

We will continue to keep the learners of the school safe. Some learners were found with illegal substances and we have referred these learners for support. This has been an ongoing program this past week.

Being in possession of an illegal subjsatnce or under the influnece of substances while on the school property is against the code of conduct.

Learners also need to leave cell phones at home otherwise you could become a target for criminals. We will not hestiate to call in te police as this behaviour is unacceptable.

Concerns

• Some matric students are not taking their prelim exams seriously and are finding many ways to be disruptive and disturb the learning of others. This is the last chance before final exams to correct errors and solve problems – learners need to settle down and study hard. Syllabi have not been completed – all subjects are still teaching new work that is necessary for the examinations.
We will also have a compulsory examination training session next week for all learners.

• Please limit your social media presence – we are dealing with a lot of bullying and body shaming and general rudeness between learners. No one has the right to call others names or to hit someone else. Please, let’s all work on respect for ourselves and then respect for others will come naturally.

• We are spending a lot of time checking uniform – please assist us by not wearing the following incorrect items each day: hoodies of any colour and beanies without school logo are NOT allowed. Please help to make our job a little easier.

Fund raising

 The vending machine company is sponsoring two R 500-vending prizes for the raffle that will be drawn on 24th August. Please support this initiative by buying tickets for R10 from the vending machine area at school. The money raised will go towards purchasing more seating benches and tables for the outdoor areas used by the learners. Anyone who would like to contribute, please do so through your child.

 We need to look at replacing our old lights with new LEDs to save on electricity – if anyone has any contacts or suggestions, please send an email to Mr Lamprecht on jlampbrecht@willowmoore.co.za

Support for grade 12 learners:

• Compulsory study sessions are scheduled every afternoon from 2.30pm to 4pm. Monday – Maths and Maths Lit
Tuesday – Physics Wednesday – Life science Thursday – Accounting

• Online support lessons every afternoon – the schedule and links are posted in the LO Google classroom.

• There is an advert for student accommodation for 2024 attached at the end of the newsletter. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.

General concerns

• Littering – STOP, PICK IT UP and PUT IT IN THE BIN.
Each of us has a duty to keep the environment clean and tidy.

E-Waste bins – Every month is recycling month
Thank you to those parents who have helped the environment by recycling your electronic goods. Please place your recycling items into one of the bins that have been placed at the front gate near the hall. Items such as irons, toasters, old computer equipment, batteries are all welcome. This will go a long way to helping our environment and reduce the amount of litter at our waste disposal sites. Ilanga have collected one load of recyclable materials – thank you for the support.

You can also recycle paper in the bin at the back of the school. Foe this recycling we earn a small amount that goes towards the RCL.

17 Teaching days to the start of the Matric 2023 FINAL exams

The countdown to matric final examinations. Please insure that your child attends school each day to stay abreast of the work
they need to learn for their final examinations.

The school aims for 100% pass rate with at least 65%
Bachelor pass rate this year. Every matric student counts in these statistics. Be the change you want to make in the world.
