Dear parents and learners
A successful parent’s day was held. It was a very busy day but pleasing to see so many parents. You are encouraged to make use of these days to meet with your child’s educators so that we can work together towards good results. Thank you to all the parents who have paid school fees.

World Book Day
Shakespeare’s birthday – 25th April. Thank you to all who participated by dressing as their favorite character. The staff also got in on the fun.
Proudly South African Day celebrations
25th April. Traditional dress, South African sports teams, traditional dancers were all present at our celebration. The cupcake competition gave learners a chance to showcase their cooking skills and make a little profit.
Collections
Plastic bottle tops (deliver to Mrs Naidoo and the Rangers), beanies, gloves and non-perishable food items (deliver to Mrs Joseph).
School Uniform
Learners must wear correct winter uniform until further notice. A blazer is compulsory for senior grades and for all girls who are wearing trousers. A dri-mac does not replace a blazer but can be worn underneath a blazer for extra warmth. School tracksuit tops (R390), beanies (R50), scarves (R40) and gloves (R25) are available from the accounts office.
Cell Phone Apps
Please check what your child is doing on the smartphones. As the parent you are entitled to check what is going on. Here are some apps that parents should be aware of in case their children as using them:
Reminders:
Exam timetables will be available soon for the June examination session which starts on 28th May for grade 10 to 12 and in the next week for the junior grades. Note also that the Creative Art Practical tests are half an hour long and will be scattered throughout the examination weeks. Please ensure that your child is studying and putting in the time required for each subject.
School Rules:
All school rules apply from the time the learners leave home in the morning until they return home again while in school uniform. They do not lapse if the learner is off the school property or if it is outside of school hours.
Litter:
We are addressing the litter in the school. Some learners are just too lazy to put the litter into a bin even if they are sitting right next to it. It is everyone’s responsibility to STOP, PICK IT UP and PUT IT IN THE BIN. Everyone can help and do their bit to keep the environment clean.
Counselling:
All educators are available should you need to speak to anyone. If the matter is sensitive, you may put it in writing to the Principal and the matter will then be forwarded to the relevant person to assist you.
The Heads of Grade assist with discipline and academic problems.

The SBST member for general counselling is Mrs Kata.
The SBST member for homework sessions in the afternoon is Ms Zerf.
The SBST member for account related issues and the feeding scheme is Mrs Healey.
The Student Liaison officer, Mrs van der Heever, is responsible for general counselling and basic first aid assistance.
The social worker, Mrs Hennessy, is available on referral from one of the above SBST members and she will make an appointment with the learner and/or family.
Road safety:
Do not walk or play in the road. When getting out of taxis, please do not just rush across the road – first check for oncoming vehicles.
